Love clothes and wondering about the artistry behind your favourite creations? Pick up a copy of ‘Drawing Fashion – A Century of Fashion Illustration’ by Colin McDowell and Holly Brubach (2010), or better yet, head the Design Museum to check out the illustrations, which more than hold their own as works of art.

I was amazed to see how the creations could be even more artistic and expressive and even more of a reflection of its time as an added bonus; Pop in the ’60s, airbrushed in the ’80s…

Some of the most important fashion illustrators, both classic and contemporary, are united for the first time this amazing retrospective. From Lepape at the beginning of the century, Bérard in the 1930s and ‘40s, Antonio during the ‘60s, ‘70s and ‘80s, to contemporary works by Mats Gustafson, Aurore de La Morinerie and François Berthoud. Houses represented include Chanel, Dior, Comme des Garçons, Poiret , Viktor & Rolf, Lacroix and Alexander McQueen.
