With a model mother and a father who was a tailor, Donna Karan was destined for fashion. Designing clothes since high school, she founded the Donna Karan New York label- which initially offered only womenswear- in 1984. The brand was the fruit of analysing the ready-to-wear market and specifically the relationship between comfort and luxury. This philosophy informed Karan’s revolutionary concept: her ‘7 Easy Pieces’ collection, simple yet elegant garments in pure, natural materials that could be mixed and matched in infinite combinations. This innovative approach ensured that the brand would rapidly become a favourite of New York women, and diffusion lines followed: DKNY Juniors and Men’s, then DKNY Kids, DKNY Underwear, DKNY Baby…

The brand’s success has also resulted in numerous collaborations with labels such as Esprit and Estée Lauder cosmetics and fragrances. More than just a brand, Donna Karan New York represents a philosophy; not only for the collections filled with passion and daring, but also for general good and well-being.
