On May 2, the lucky-duck chosen ones of the fashion and celebrity world had the oppurtunity to preview and fête the Alexander McQueen retrospective at New York’s Metropolitan Museum of Art.

There weren’t many surprises in the best-dressed category, with champions and collectors of McQueen Daphne Guinness and Sarah Jessica Parker looking right at home in two of his finest creations…

Best-dressed in the model division were hands-down Gisele Bundchen and Karen Elson, a favourite model of the late designer who first wore this look on the catwalk.

It was also lovely to see the passing of the torch to Sarah Burton, who dressed models Naomi Campbell in a custom creation and Raquel Zimmermann in a look from the Autumn/Winter 2011 collection, not to mention herself!

All in all, it was a rare moment where even megawatt celebrity, supermodels and the world’s most famous designers were upstaged by what was on show (stay tuned for details on that)!
